Christmas!!!!

So I apparently didn't take that many pictures at Christmas. I think I was a little burned out from my marathon November and December work wise, so sorry for all the visual holes in this year's Christmas story.

Christmas was a big hit! She ran over to all the presents under the tree and demanded "Open these!!!!!"Savannah is now just ramdomly asking to open presents as she has been doing so since her birthday. That is a hard thing to explain to a toddler - that there are no more presents for a while.

She loved seeing all her Gaga's and Uncle Damian and Rod and Jackie and their family that was in from England - Phew! She made a brand new friend in Abbie, Jackie's 9 year old niece. I loved having a big Christmas dinner - there were 14 people! It was so wonderful.

Savannah was so excited about everything and everyone. It's nice to have someone so enthusiastic around for the holidays.

So on to random pictures!

Over and Out

Heading to big D tomorrow, so light posting for a while. Have yourself a Merry Christmas!!!!

Santa

So we went to see Santa today. As you may remember from last year - we're not so big on Santa.

This year, as we can communicate a little better, I talked up Santa BIG TIME! Savannah was very excited to see the big man. I told her that we had to see Santa and buy her a coat while we were at the mall (an aside - how great is Texas weather that I am just now needing to buy my child a coat?) and she made sure that we would 'See Santa first'. Plus, she was going to ask him to bring her 'cool stuff'. So cute!

So we went and waited in line (Coincidentally, we were in line behind another photographer friend of mine, so that was fun). Savannah waved at Santa and kept telling me "There's Santa!"

Then, it was her turn to see Santa. Did she want to sit on his lap? "no". How about standing with Santa? "NO!". How about if you sit next to Santa in his big green chair? "Oh" (this translates to 'OK' in Savannah speak)

The picture is hilarious again this year. I would love to show it to you, but they gave me a disc with a picture of a very cute 4 year old girl with Santa and I'm having some troubles with our scanner. So, it'll be here soon. I just wanted to get the story down so I didn't forget.

I always marvel about how quickly you grow up. But occasionally, I am reminded that you still have a ways to go.

In other news, Savannah got some exciting mail yesterday!!!!! Man, Santa is GOOD. I didn't even send him a change of address form. He just KNEW we were here.........

POTD: Queen for a Day

Doesn't it seem like life would be a little better if we made dinner in a tiara occassionally?

Birthday Madness!

At last, here are the photos. (We are drying out nicely around here, I'll update you as we have more info - so far, the wood floors look like they might survive).

We had Amy's Ice Cream (the only place in town to get ice cream as far as I'm concerned) cater. It was great. They brought several flavors and toppings, plus a dude to scoop it for us. We also had a lovely woman come and do face painting for us. She was amazing! Savannah only got a little butterfly (as you will see below) but she did lizards and butterflies and snakes, etc. There was even glitter. It was great. So all in all, a wonderful party. I'm so glad we were able to do this for her. Savannah had a great time. (And so did we)

I feel like this picture pretty much sums up 'two'.

Grandpa showing his Dallas Cowboy pride.

She was very big on the singing and cake.

Gifts from Gaga and Grandpa - A BRAND NEW CAR!

Putting together her kitchen from Gaga A and Gaga B. (she adores this thing - she'll wake up in the morning and the first thing she says is "Make food in my kitchen?"

Lunch the day after.

Seriously?

So in addition to our colds, the downstairs bathroom flooded today....allllllll over the place.

I'm just thankful I came downstairs to get something to drink or who knows how bad it would have been.

So anyway...........my blogging time was interrupted, but party pics are coming!!! I swear!

While you're waiting......

In an effort to give back, Savannah Jane decided to give BOTH her mom and dad her cold, so I'm a little behind on posting party pics.

Here is something to tide you over. Savannah in her b-day present from Mom & Dad. This is a copy of this mural. It's very famous in Austin. Savannah loves it - she calls it the 'silly frog'.

Austin Light Up

We went to the Austin light up celebration this past weekend. Here is my shot from the hip while crossing the street. We had a great time and some amazing chili at the Texas Chili Parlor. It put me in a meat coma by the time we got home. I literally passed out on the couch.
Sorry there are not more Savannah pics this week. She has a cold (just in time for her b-day party!) and is really not in the mood for photos.

"Our Dangerous Game......"

Conor and Savannah have a new game.....

Every night, he takes her out of the bathtub and takes her upstairs to get PJ's on while I get her milk.

She's always enjoyed turning the light switch off, but as her sense of humor has developed, she's gotten silly about it. Conor would ask her to get the light and she'd touch the screw that holds the light switch plate on and laugh and laugh.....

So, Conor one-upped her. Her would tickle her if she touched the screw. Then, he began saying "And now it's time to play our dangerous game...." as her got her out of the tub. She gets tickles if she doesn't turn the light off. But he's let her make the choice about what she's going to do.

Now, when I tell Savannah it's time to get out of the tub, she turns to Conor and says "Time for dangerous game". She generally goes for 2-3 tickles before she flips the switch.

I know that some toddlers are more difficult than others, but at this point, I can't imagine a better age than almost two.
