Because I want to remember it
We started ballet class again this week and we have a new teacher. I was a little nervous given Savannah's 'hell raiser' status in the last class. She has, as I told her tickled pediatrician, a tendency to exploit any perceived weakness in a new adult with scary precision.
I waited and watched the closed circuit feed with my breath held and it was a miracle. Aside from one bar hanging incident (a newly learned skill) at the beginning of class, she was PERFECT! She did all the skills, stayed on her tape, didn't run around, didn't bang on the mirror, waited her turn....phew! I'm going to see if Miss Joely babysits.

A few quotes
As you can see on my Twitter feed:
1. Me: "Savannah, what's in your mouth?"
Savannah: "Something that came out of my nose"
Oh gross.
2. Savannah came running out of the toy room with a football today and said "You (again, meaning herself) are ready for football season!!!!! Go Moo-Cows!!!! (that would be the Cowboys)"
I made her tell Daddy that as well and he looked like he was going to cry with happiness.

POTD: August 18th - Manicure
There was a request for painting someone's fingernails as well as their toenails today. I think it went over well.

Phone Etiquette
As I have a second job (the first one being Mom), Savannah has heard me leave countless messages for my clients. I think it's rubbing off a little. Here she is leaving a message for pig.
The part that always cracks me up is the "Hello, this is Shannon Cunningham, it's about 12:30 on Tuesday" line. Her phone messages always start this way.

Catching Up Part II
We had some cousins in town the other week! Gaga A's niece Oonaugh and her boys Conal and Adam were here for a quick day trip before heading up to Dallas. As they are part of the Irish clan, we thought we'd take them to a true Texas BBQ joint - The County Line.
Poor Conal was goaded into the 'Big Daddy Rib Platter', which, is so huge I can't even explain it. But, as he is a growing teenager, he FINISHED IT! Woo! (Did you hear that Miles? A 13-year old bested you)
Here are a few pictures:
Uncle D & Savannah
Adam found a ladybug and he and Savannah had a great time looking at it. Adam was very sweet with Savannah.
Nearing the end - notice everyone else is finished and out back.

Are you ready for some football?
Conor just IM'd (yes I know he works in the next room, but whatever) me this:
Cowboys Schedule
I mean, I am a busy Cowboys fan and this made things a whole lot easier for me.
Awesome!!!!!!

Catching Up on Stuff

So, as I've been a little (OK a lot) overwhelmed with work and Savannah the past month, there are some things I've meant to blog about, but just haven't got around to. In the spirit of the 'Week of Posts', here's part one of catching up.
It turns out that Savannah has a food allergy....to Macademia nuts. Ucchh. We had a little party the other week and we had some of those Macademia/white chocolate cookies. She saw one on a table and asked me if she could have. I said 'sure'. She took one bite and started screaming that the 'cookie is burning my mouth'. She started spitting it out and was generally pretty miserable. Then the rash started. It was all around her face and mouth. Then the throwing up started.
But she had no breathing problems and was OK after a night's sleep. One of our friends called her throwing up a 'rally hurl' as she felt great once she got everything out of her system. It added a little spice to the party at least. We went to the doctor the other day and she gave us a prescription for an Epi-Pen in case she has an even worse reaction next time. So I'll now be carrying a needle around with me. Because I don't have enough stuff already.
Poor kid - she keeps talking about the spicy cookie that burned her mouth. She's told me several times not to buy those anymore because 'they make you puke'.

Yocking
DAY THREE IN A ROW!!!!!
I know I shouldn't mock, but one day she's not going to talk like this anymore and I'll miss it. I'm glad I have the memory preserved now. If you look closely, you can see that she also has about 10 barrettes in her hair.

POTD: Mama + Savannah
Day 2 of the Monday-Friday Blog-a-thon!
So as the resident photographer in the family, I don't get in a lot of photos with Savannah. To correct this problem so that Savannah knew what I looked like when she was growing up, I asked my wonderful friend, Jennifer Nichols to shoot some photos of Savannah and I.
I chose Jennifer because she has a young daughter, so I knew she'd be able to handle Miss Personality and she shoots closest to what I would have done if I could have shot it myself. I don't want to say she shoots like me, because we are different, but I knew we'd get what we wanted and boy, how we did.
Below are the pages from an album I made for the Grandparents. Let me know what you think.

POTD + My Resolution
OK, so here it is - I will post every day this week! I mean it! If you catch me not blogging, the first person to comment on it gets a cup of coffee on me.

On to the POTD:

Here is Savannah playing with her Pandas. There is Mama, baby and the brother and the sister. She is very specific that one of them is the 'baby', one is 'sister' and one is 'brother'. Don't mix them up, please.
When I dropped her off at school the other day, we were chatting about how pandas eat bamboo and I told her I would get some bamboo at the store for her pandas to eat. Luckily, I had some soba noodles at the house, because they were just different enough from pasta noodles to be deemed 'bamboo' enough. I was told the pandas loved it. It was 'the best bamboo they ever ate!'.
