POTD | Woo! Back from London

Wow, I need some time not zooming across the ocean. As exciting as it sounds to be in Europe three times within 8 weeks, the reality is that I am tired and longing for more Tex-Mex and Margs and friend time.

Not that the trips were not fun and fantastic, because they were all amazing (especially seeing family and a delightful English wedding this past weekend), but the travel part is a cruel mistress. Everything suffers - work, the house, etc.

Savannah takes it all in stride though. Here she is outside our latest hotel. Travel = not a problem for Little S.

I was telling her that I was looking forward to some time at home today and she said that she wished we could travel all the time. I am happy about that attitude because it will surely serve her well in the years to come. A five year old with an impressive set of stamps in her passport is never a bad thing and we are so grateful we've been able to supply those experiences for her.

We are home | Conflicting Feelings on Pop Art

We are home!!!

So many stories and photos to come, but no photo that makes me laugh harder than this one of Savannah in front of a giant Warhol at The Pompidou Center.

London | 48 Hours style

I think 10 years of marriage deserves a weekend trip to London, no? We had a lovely weekend though - saw some relatives, ate some great food, saw some cool stuff. Can't ask for more than that! PLUS, we get to go back in June as a family for a wedding! Yea!

We bought Savannah a Paddington Bear (at Harrod's no less - Ooh lala) and took him to Paddington station. A smartly dressed British man saw us and said (to whomever he was speaking with on the phone) "Only Americans would be taking a photo of Paddington with a Paddington" in a really snotty tone. I basically told him to suck it, because I was doing this for my five year old.

If you happen to be in SoHo, this restaurant is fantastic! Only downside, they hung my coat by the kitchen and it smelled (heavenly) of lamb the next day.

Then I got to come home to this face - it really hit me when I drove off to the airport that we would both be so far away from her. That was very hard. I was so happy to see her.

POTD: Up Next: Seattle

We went to Seattle last week and it was delightful! A quick long weekend (for S & I - Conor was there all week) out of the heat. Saw some friends, ate some food - good times all around!

Savannah enjoyed Pike Place Market MUCH more this time around. She loved those dudes throwing fish.

We're really not jetsetters.

We're off to Seattle for the long weekend.

I will emerge in a few days.

England Part II

More England. I have to admit, I was sad we couldn't spend a little more time in London. I really enjoy this city (I have amazing memories from my last visit) and 40 hours just really isn't enough time to fully experience it. Oh well - gives us a reason to come back again.

Here we are on the train into town.

The London Eye. Everytime I see this I hear Edward saying "Oh the Yondon Eye!" in his little accent. So adorable.

The Aquarium...so cool. This jellyfish tank was great. The light color cycled to change the color of the jellyfish. It was a hit.
Look at these two cute people.
Loving baby Frank a liiitle too much.
Cousin Aidan! We love Cousin Aidan! I haven't seen him since the wedding and he is so much fun to hang out with. Truly one of the best conversationalists ever. He also works for the BBC, so he always has lots of good stories. I had just scolded Savannah beofre this picture, so that's why she looks sad. She loves Aidan too.

Vacation: England

We had a very quick stop in England to see the rest of the family.

Conor's cousin Nuala and her husband Paul very generously let us stay in their home in Wimbledon. There were SUCH amazing hosts. They live on an incredibly charming street and I was once again made jealous by how walkable the European lifestlye is. I really really wish I could just pop Savannah in the stroller and walk to the grocery store.

Here are a few snaps our our time at Nuala and Paul's. Here are their two boys, Edward and Frank. Oh and yes, a toddler with an English accent IS about the cutest thing you've ever heard.

Paul and Frank

Why? Because crashing is fun.

These two were great little playmates.

Baby Frank.

Edward.

More later from our trip into the city. (Trains! The London Eye! Fish! More cousins!!!!!!!!)

Port Rush Part IV

Final Port Rush installment!! We'll start off with a few around Mark Street. (These are credited to Conor)

Then we went over to Uncle Sean and Aunt Louise's house for dinner (and MORE cousins!)

Lena, Claire and Savannah.

Auntie Lousie discussing a treat with Savannah. Notice her rapt attention.

Savannah got to pick rasberries! Everything grows in Ireland - it reminds me of Seattle in that way. We used to have such a great garden in the summer.
