POTD: My Red Shiny Shoes!

Meet the latest obsession - Savannah's Red Shiny Shoes!

They are worn pretty much everywhere, but were downgraded as play shoes because she wiped out in them running down our street. "Red shiny shoes are not good for running, Mama. Tenny shoes are better for that."

And also...the eyelashes

POTD: Dang....shouldn't be jealous of a 2 year old

Who wouldn't want lips like these?
I don't know where they came from, but she is mini-Angie Jolie as far as lips go.

POTD: Painting

We are painting Savannah's toy room.

Well, actually Conor is painting Savannah's toy room. I bought the new drapes and paint. I left these B&W so the final unveiling would be a surprise. Yes, it's another 'bold choice'. I don't care - it looks awesome. AS Ikea says "Be brave, not beige".

Note the dripping and Conor's expression.

I know...

lazy poster...updates soon.

POTD: 'Rainy Day' Arts & Crafts

We were spared the horrible weather that they had originally predicted for our area as a result of Hurricaine Ike. But because I was paranoid, I bought a house full of arts and crafts supplies to keep Savannah busy during this predicted downpour. Note the glorious sunshine in the background. NO RAIN HERE! ZIPPO. We busted out the art supplies anyway.

One of my friends had a great picture of her 4 year old in rain gear wating by a sunny door entitled "Waiting for Godot" and I think that about sums it up. We are so sad for our friends in Galveston and Houston, but are thankful the weather wasn't worse.

That's pudding all over her face, by the way.

POTD: September 11, 2008

First of all - Happy anniversary to Gaga A & B. It's OK to celebrate a little today.

Second of all - ummmm...hurricane? Please go away.

Third of all - this is what Savannah looked like when I got her up from her nap the other day. I know it was kind of mean for me to take a barely awake 2 year old into another room and photograph her, but it was just too funny. Look how annoyed with me she is in the second picture.

Monthly Update: Month 33

I sort of quietly skipped Month 32, not because there wasn't anything good going on, but I was having a hard time articulating what was happening.

The monthly update started as "Look! She has a tooth!" "She's standing!". You know, the Big Things. Lately, while things do change overnight, they are a bit more subtle.

Over the last few months, things occur to me almost subconsciously. So here's a little sample of my internal monologue this month.

Hey Savannah doesn't use a bib anymore. She's just using a napkin and using it very well at that.

Look at her with that big girl cup. I don't have to worry quite as much about her spilling it.

She seems very close to climbing out of her crib, but she loves it so much that I don't think she ever will. She can hang quite well from the edge though. It's become part of her bedtime routine. She'll throw everyone in her crib and then hang from the edge of the crib for a minute. Then she says "Hanging, hanging, hanging".

I wonder if she'll ever be potty trained? My guess at this point is "Maybe", but there is currently such staunch opposition to the concept. M&M's aren't even helping.

She is smart. Did she just read that word? Is she really spelling words to me? Wow.

That is incredibly imaginative. This is some really active role playing right there.

She is getting kind of good at ballet.

You are really passionate about cooking. I should let you help more often.

Oh really sassypants? Well, I'm still your mom and I have the ability to lay down the hammer, so maybe you should rethink that.

But that is pretty funny, so you're forgiven.

Now that the babbling is over, enjoy some pictures. I bulked it up this month as I skipped out on you last month.

Love you pumpkin.
